Daniela Carneiro is Brazil’s new Minister of Tourism
The new Minister of Tourism, Daniela Carneiro, took office on Monday 2 January, in a ceremony held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Brasilia. In her first speech after taking office, the minister defended the strengthening of the sector to generate more income and employment, based on the union with the leaders and entities, with the tourism corporation and society.
When President Lula announced her appointment, she said on her social networks: “I accept this mission with great enthusiasm. Commitment, dedication and determination will not be lacking. The tourism portfolio is essential for our country and for the economy. We have a great challenge ahead of us: to promote more and more Brazilian tourism. This is, without a doubt, the greatest challenge I will face in my political career. I reaffirm my commitment to continue implementing a policy of results that can transform people’s lives and move Brazil forward.
Daniela Carneiro also stressed during the ceremony the importance of the partnership with Embratur: “We are going to show the world all our joy, our plurality, our ethnic and cultural diversity, a happy and lively country. For this, we will strengthen our work with Embratur, in order to reinforce our image on the international markets”.
Embratur (the Brazilian Tourism Institute) was represented at the ceremony by the Head of Advertising, Communication and Digital Marketing, Karisa Nogueira.
Federal deputy Marcelo Freixo, who attended the ceremony and was appointed by Minister Daniela Carneiro as the next president of Embratur, pointed out the possibilities of the sector. “What a pleasure to have a woman at the head of such an important and decisive ministry. We need to generate jobs and income and make it clear that tourism offers much more than other sectors. Tourism is interdisciplinary, it will pass through several ministries.
