Air France-KLM and GOL strengthen their commercial partnership
Air France-KLM and Brazilian airline GOL have announced a major strengthening of their commercial partnership, making it one of the strongest in the airline industry. The alliance, which will run for the next ten years, aims to consolidate the position of both airlines on routes between Europe and Brazil.
Under the terms of the agreement, Air France-KLM and GOL will guarantee each other exclusivity on routes between Europe and Brazil, thereby strengthening their commercial cooperation. This strategic decision comes at a time when the two airlines already cover more than 99% of demand on these routes. Currently, one in five passengers travelling to Brazil with Air France or KLM continues their journey with a GOL flight, illustrating the importance of this collaboration.
The benefits of this alliance are not limited to businesses. Travellers will benefit from an optimised network covering more than 80 destinations in Europe, 45 in Brazil and, in the future, new arrival points in Latin America. In addition, the agreement provides for the extension of code-sharing, enhancing joint sales activities and offering additional benefits to customers via Air France-KLM’s Flying Blue and GOL’s SMILES frequent flyer programmes.
In terms of operations, Air France and KLM passengers will be able to connect to GOL flights beyond the main Brazilian cities such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Fortaleza. Conversely, GOL travellers will be able to access the global networks of Air France and KLM, notably via the Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam-Schiphol hubs.
During the winter season, Air France operates 24 weekly flights to Brazil (14 to São Paulo, 7 to Río de Janeiro and 3 to Fortaleza), while KLM operates 14 weekly flights to Brazil (7 to São Paulo, 7 to Río de Janeiro).
