Authentic Patagonia: Focus on Villa La Angostura
Nestling in the heart of Argentine Patagonia, Villa La Angostura is a destination that captivates with its natural beauty and authentic charm. Situated to the north-west of Lake Nahuel Huapi, in the province of Neuquén, this town boasts one of Argentina‘s most picturesque mountain landscapes. Surrounded by lakes, it is immersed in the Nahuel Huapi National Park and is the gateway to the Parque Nacional Arrayanes, the only place in the world to find a natural forest of this very special species.
A little history
The Villa La Angostura region has been inhabited for around 10,000 years. Over the centuries, indigenous peoples, conquistadors, missionaries and settlers have left their mark on this land. In 1902, after resolving the border issue with Chile, the national government created the Nahuel Huapi agro-pastoral colony. Then, in 1934, the creation of the Parque Nacional Nahuel Huapi marked a turning point for the region, which gradually became a popular tourist destination. The town has continued to grow and evolve to become the magnificent place we know today.
