Copa Airlines opens service between Panama and Tulum
Copa Airlines has inaugurated a new route between Panama and Tulum, marking a historic moment for travellers and the tourism sector in both destinations. The first flight on this route landed at Tulum airport on 27 June 2024, celebrated with enthusiasm by the local authorities and Copa Airlines representatives.
A New Airlift Bridge
The new route between Panama City and Tulum not only strengthens connectivity between Central America and Mexico, but will also give the famous seaside resort easier access to Copa Airlines’ network of destinations via its hub, including Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Uruguay and Paraguay.
With four weekly non-stop flights, Copa Airlines offers travellers a new option for exploring the natural beauty and cultural attractions of Tulum.
Pedro Heilbron, CEO of Copa Airlines, said: “This new route to Tulum demonstrates our commitment to offering more choice and convenience to our passengers. We are delighted to connect these two dynamic destinations and contribute to the region’s tourism development.”

Frequency: 4 flights a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday)

Celebration of the Inauguration
The inaugural flight was welcomed with a special ceremony at Tulum airport, where representatives of Copa Airlines and local authorities celebrated this landmark event. Speeches, gift exchanges and cultural performances marked this historic day.
Mexico’s Minister of Tourism, Marisol Vanegas Pérez, expressed her enthusiasm: “The arrival of Copa Airlines in Tulum opens up new prospects for the development of tourism in our region. This direct connection with Panama is a major asset for attracting international visitors.“
