LATAM increases flight frequency between Santiago and Easter Island
From 1 August 2023, the airline LATAM will increase the frequency between Santiago airport and Mataveri international airport on Easter Island to six weekly flights. The flight rotations will take place on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays.
“Increased connectivity with the mainland will have a considerable beneficial effect on the tourism industry, the island’s main economic activity (…) which is why we are continuing to work to ensure that the recovery and reactivation reaches every corner of the island,” said Chile‘s Undersecretary for Tourism, Verónica Pardo.
This measure is in response to the strong demand for tickets for the island following its reopening to tourism and to the public-private coordination work with the Rapa Nui municipality that has developed over recent months.
