South America shines at World’s 50 Best Vineyards
The vineyards of South America, in particular those of Argentina and Chile, have been recognised as one of the World’s 50 Best Vineyards 2023. These wine regions, rich in history and culture, produce some of the finest and most sought-after wines in the world.
The Catena Zapata vineyard in Mendoza, Argentina, was ranked number one in the list of the World’s 50 Best Vineyards. This family estate, which played a decisive role in establishing Malbec as Argentina’s emblematic grape variety, is renowned for its constant quest for quality and innovation.
Chile is not to be outdone, with the VIK estate also in the top ten. Located in the Millahue Valley, this vineyard is famous for its holistic approach to viticulture, which aims to express the region’s unique terroir in every bottle of wine.
These awards reflect not only the exceptional quality of the wines produced in Argentina and Chile, but also the commitment of these countries to innovation and sustainability in viticulture.
Wine tourism in Latin America has grown significantly in recent years, thanks to the exceptional quality of its wines and the beauty of its wine-growing landscapes. Countries such as Argentina, Chile and Mexico offer unique wine tourism experiences, combining wine tasting, vineyard visits and immersion in the local culture. Argentina, for example, is famous for its Mendoza region, the birthplace of Malbec, while Chile is renowned for the Valle del Maipo, famous for its Cabernet Sauvignon. Mexico, although better known for its tequila and mezcal, also has a long tradition of winemaking, particularly in the Baja California region. The growth of wine tourism in Latin America has not only stimulated employment and local economic development, but has also contributed to the preservation of the cultural and natural heritage of these wine-producing regions.
The worldwide recognition of South America’s vineyards is an invitation to discover these exceptional wine regions and taste the extraordinary wines they produce. Whether you’re a wine lover or a seasoned oenophile, the vineyards of Argentina and Chile offer an unforgettable experience that will delight all your senses.
