World Travel Awards 2020

The World Travel Awards, also known as the “Oscars of Tourism” awarded every year since 1993, have announced this year’s 2020 winners for each continent. The results of the global final awards will be known at the end of November.

The votes, shared between tourism professionals and non-professionals, elected in several categories the flagship destinations of the year and rewarded companies at a national but also international level.

 

For the South America region :

The most coveted prize, the South America’s Leading Destination goes this year to Chile, which also wins the prizes of the South America’s Leading  Adventure Tourism Destination and Leading Nature destination, with a special mention to the Torre National Park del Paine elected Leading Natural Tourist Attraction!

The year of Colombia

In this 2020 edition, Colombia is doing well on the trophies for the South American continent, with no less than 15 awards including:

– South America’s Leading Business Travel Destination: Bogota

– South America’s Leading Airport: El Dorado, Bogota

– South America’s Leading Meetings & Conference Centre: Agora Convention Center, Bogota

– South America’s Leading Beach Destination: San Andres,

– South America’s Leading City Break Destination: Medellin

– South America’s Leading Cruise Port: Port of Cartagena de Indias

– South America’s Leading Culinary Destination: Colombia

– South America’s Leading Cultural City Destination: Barranquilla

– South America’s Leading Honeymoon Destination: Cartagena de Indias

– South America’s Leading LGBT Destination: Cartagena de Indias

– South America’s Leading Emerging Tourism Destination: Santigo de Cali

– South America’s Leading Tourist Board: ProColombia

 

Peru and Ecuador have also the honor to receive:
